Save New Yorkers’ Homes for the Holidays

Happy Thanksgiving. As this year nears its end, many of us will join with friends and family to celebrate the holidays in the warmth and safety of our homes. At the same time, 500,000 New Yorkers currently in rent arrears are worried about losing their homes and ending up in shelters in the new year.

The vast majority of people at risk of homelessness are women and children of color, and for those who do enter the shelter system, the path toward stability becomes incredibly difficult.

For many of our clients, rent arrears are the result of the massive economic disruptions of the past two years. Financial assistance to erase these arrears will save their homes.

Our goal is to raise $12 million over the next three years to save the homes of 6,000 New Yorkers, and we are off to a great start. Through the steadfast support of our donors and innovative corporate partnerships, we have already reached $2 million, enough to save thousands of homes.
