Interfaith Homelessness Prevention Network

Eviction is a leading cause of homelessness in NYC. More than 330,000 households are in rental arrears and at risk of losing their homes. Eviction prevention remains the most cost-effective and humane solution to ending homelessness.

Why an Interfaith Network?

An interfaith network is the bedrock of The Partnership. More than 40 years ago, the organization was founded to partner with congregations across the city in the provision of overnight shelter for people experiencing street homelessness. Today, we are redeveloping that concept to partner with congregations to prevent homelessness before it happens.

When struggling, people often first turn to houses of worship. Faith leaders are natural allies in the long-term work to increase homelessness prevention services and impact. Our network will equip houses of worship with prevention knowledge, tools and referral pathways to reach households at risk of eviction earlier.

What You Can Do

Learn About Prevention

The Partnership is committed to ending homelessness by preventing it. We want you to invite us into your community to share how intervening upstream, before a family loses their home, can have an outsized impact. We only ask that you share what you learn with at least one other person.

Refer Someone
Consider referring people to The Partnership’s services if there is need in your community/congregation or in the programs where you volunteer. You may also introduce The Partnership to a congregation in which need may exist and/or invite The Partnership to sit on a panel, participate in a forum etc.
Work with Us

If there is interest within the congregation, The Partnership can support you to engage with the basics of prevention, e.g. support people to navigate One-Shot Deals at your premises, via your food pantry or a program where you volunteer. Likewise, we can assist you to do presentations about prevention to other congregations.
