Save Homes on International Homeless Animals Day
When New Yorkers lose their homes, so do their pets.
In NYC, approximately 100,000 people are currently experiencing homelessness and almost 800,000 more have rental arrears and are at risk of losing their homes.
All too often the trauma of family homelessness is worsened by the separation of New Yorkers and their children from their beloved dogs, cats and other animal members of their families. In just a six-month period in 2023, 7,000 cats and dogs entered NYC animal shelters; sadly many animals in shelters are not reunited with their families and may end up being euthanized.
The most humanitarian solution is to prevent homelessness before it happens.
Our Save Homes Campaign is an upstream intervention that combines housing and mental health services to prevent families from losing their homes.
If you can, join us this International Homeless Animals’ Day to keep pets with their families and in their homes by donating to the Save Homes Campaign.
